Sound Diagnostics offers wellness ultrasound screenings designed to identify potential
abnormalities before symptoms develop. These limited screening examinations evaluate specific
organs and blood vessels that commonly develop disease over time. The purpose of screening is to
identify findings that may warrant additional medical evaluation. Wellness screenings are not
diagnostic examinations and do not replace routine healthcare visits or physician-directed testing. If
an abnormality is identified, patients will be advised to follow up with their primary care provider,
who can determine whether additional diagnostic testing is appropriate.
What Is a Wellness Ultrasound Screening?
A wellness ultrasound screening is a limited ultrasound examination designed to look for signs of potentialabnormalities before symptoms develop.
Unlike a diagnostic ultrasound ordered by a healthcare provider, a wellness screening is intended to identifythe possible presence of abnormalities
that may require further medical evaluation. These examinations arenot intended to diagnose disease, determine the cause of an abnormality, or replace routine medical care.
Ultrasound uses sound waves to create images of structures inside the body and does not expose patientsto radiation.
Who May Benefit?
Individuals interested in proactive health screening may benefit from these examinations, particularly thosewith:
• Family history of vascular disease
• High blood pressure
• High cholesterol
• Smoking history
• Diabetes
• Thyroid disease history
• Cardiovascular risk factors
What Happens If Something Is Found?
If a screening identifies a potentially abnormal finding, you will receive a written report describing the area of concern. We recommend that you:
1 - Contact your primary care provider.
2 - Provide them with a copy of your screening report.
3 - Follow their recommendations for additional diagnostic testing.
Many screening findings ultimately prove to be benign, while others require additional evaluation. Only aphysician-directed diagnostic examination can
determine the significance of a screening finding.
